About Us

Recently founded as a Vermont non-profit, Community Neuro-Rehabilitation, Inc.—CNRI—serves as the hub for a network of local and regional TBI resource providers dedicated to improving the options and outcomes of TBI survivors.

What motivates us:

Our community home-bases the 131st unit of the National Guard. The 131st serves in the wars clearing unexploded ordinance and at least 20% of its members are likely to return home with traumatic brain injury.

The current deployment, added to the number of people already in armed services, is expected to cause 800 to 1000 new cases of TBI over the next 1 to 2 years in Vermont alone.

Every one of our founding staff and board directors has either suffered a TBI or is the family member of someone with a TBI. And we have experienced – both as individuals and as healthcare professionals – the healing that is possible in a supportive community.

Four principles guide us:

  • Rehabilitating People
  • Renewing Dreams
  • Restoring Hope
  • Rejuvenating Communities

We aim to serve primarily Veterans in Vermont, then New Hampshire, Northern and Western Massachusetts, and Maine starting in 2010.  Civilian TBI survivors are welcome as space permits.
